STRATA

Product Innovation Program
Your ideas.
Designed, Built, Implemented.
A collaborative product design initiative between Crux Design and healthcare professionals. We help clinicians and supply-chain teams turn everyday challenges into real‑world solutions at no cost for design.
STRATA was created to connect industry professionals with the design and manufacturing processes needed to bring ideas to life.
STRATA is a full-service, co-design program. We partner with end users to identify problems, design solutions, prototype quickly, and guide real-world deployment.
Our mission is simple: create practical tools that reduce cost and waste, streamline workflow, and most importantly, support better patient care.
Crux offers onsite manufacturing resources including parametric modeling, industrial CNC machining, FDA-registered, biocompatible-capable 3D printing, plastic injection molding, laser engraving, and a fully equipped conventional shop so we can move from idea to part fast and reliably.

STRATA is an execution framework designed to move ideas from concept → prototype → production with speed, reliability, and cost control.
What We Solve

Disorganized inventory and workflow
We design and manufacture accessories for modular systems of all types to maximize inventory management and streamline department workflow.

OR & SPD bottlenecks
Design and build procedure-specific carts and staging cabinets that speed case prep, turnover, and instrument flow.

Lost/expired items and overstock
We produce clear-view doors, inventory monitoring systems, inventory replenishment indicators, and RFID/QR-ready label holders with min/max cues to tighten control and replenishment.

Ill-fitting carts and cabinets
We custom-size frames, shelves, and slide-outs to your room dimensions, utilities, and pathways. No wasted space.

Labeling/ID that fails on the floor
We manufacture durable, high-contrast labels that work with current industry standard systems, adding RFID-ready holders that survive cleaning and daily use.

Storage that doesn’t meet space and workflow demands
We manufacture reconfigurable, clinic-ready accessories that complement existing storage equipment to adapt to today's needs.
How STRATA Works

-
Submit a challenge - Tell us what isn’t working via email or our online request.
-
Discovery call - Align our goals, constraints, and success criteria.
-
Co‑design sprint - Sketches → CAD → feedback (fast iterations).
-
Prototype - When applicable, manufacture physical working versions of products in development.
-
Refine & approve - Iterate from feedback; finalize design.
-
Deploy - Manufacture, install support, train staff, monitor outcomes.

No‑cost design: Participation in STRATA includes design at no charge. If you choose to move forward, production and installation are quoted separately.
FAQ
Is design really no cost?
Yes. STRATA covers the design phase. If you move to production/installation, those costs are quoted before you commit.

How fast can we see a prototype?
Timelines vary by complexity; rapid prototypes are common for focused problems.

Who owns the idea?
We’ll align on approvals and attribution upfront so everyone is clear and comfortable.

Do we need to share patient data?
No. We design around workflows and space. No PHI is required.
STRATA is built around real-world challenges, direct collaboration, and fast execution. Transforming clinical needs into working solutions.
